Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Understanding the effects of muscles on wrinkles is a good place to start with when looking at anti-wrinkle injections. A younger skin springs back easily after making facial expressions, in time the repeated action of the facial muscles contributes to the formation of wrinkles and folds. These are usually highly mobile areas such as crows feet, frown lines and forehead.

There are two different types of wrinkles that sit on your face;

Dynamic Wrinkles:- are obvious during facial expressions such as smiling or frowning.

Static Wrinkles:- wrinkles which are increasingly noticeable at rest, as a result of ageing.

Wrinkle relaxation injections are designed to relax specific wrinkle forming muscles. Results are a more refreshed and relaxed appearance on your face.

Each session takes about 20 to 30 minutes and you may re-commence your daily activities immediately with no downtime.  After 2-5 days you will start seeing the results of the anti-wrinkle injections with the effect lasting for about 4 months, until the fine lines begin to reemerge.

Injectable Dermal Fillers

Understanding volume and that over time, shape, contour of the face changes and as the skin becomes thinner the effects of gravity are more obvious. Facial volume is gradually lost with loss of bone density, the fat volume and skin structure which all contribute to deep folds and creases.

Dermal fillers are what we use in this instance to replace volume loss in areas such as cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds, jaw line, brows and temples. We inject into those areas to add volume, soften lines, enhance shape and restore facial contours.

Dermal fillers are placed below the skin’s surface to replace the lost volume. We inject a small amount of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which is a gel like substance, into the dermis. Hyaluronic Acid is a sugar that is naturally found in our skin cells, it works to restore volume, add structure and hydration by attracting water. This is much like a sponge effect in the skin with the result being an increase in volume to the area.

Each session takes about 30 minutes, with minimal discomfort and quick recovery. You will be able to return to normal activity after treatment.  Dermal fillers can last from 6 months up to 18 months depending on the consistency of the dermal filler gel used.
