The “Menjections” Trend: Injectables on the Rise Amongst Men

Long gone are the days when just women visited the plastic surgeon. From Sydney to San Francisco, men today are clamouring for cosmetic treatments. While traditional plastic surgeries like eye lifts and liposuctions are popular with men, nothing is surging in popularity like non-invasive procedures.

An incredible amount of men have been visiting plastic surgeons for injectables like Botox and lip fillers. Here’s why.

Why Injectables Are on the Rise Amongst Men

Did you know that injectables amongst men, or “menjections,” increased an incredible 74 per cent just between 2015 and 2016? According to plastic surgeons in Australia and around the world, it has a lot to do with social media. People aren’t shy about narcissism and immortalising their beauty online in selfies.

Even more importantly, social media has removed much of the stigma from cosmetic surgery, especially injectables. Today men and women alike are talking about getting injectables. They are showing before and after shots. Some people are even snapping shots in the surgeon’s office. At our Dee Why clinic, we have seen more than a few patients clicking away in the office to capture the injectables experience.

Inspiration for Injectables

Men have countless sources of inspiration for getting injectables. In many cases, men have particular areas that they are unhappy with and are looking for correction, with options like glossing over fine lines or adjusting areas that are less than symmetrical.

At our Dee Why clinic, we see many men who have saved shots from the internet that inspired them. Sometimes they are random men from Instagram (and finding someone with a look similar to your own can be a good source of inspiration). Other times, we see men looking to capture the looks of their favourite celebrities. According to international stats, the most requested looks for men are based on Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum, and Harry Styles.

Customised Injectables for Men

While injectables are more popular than ever before, some men still shy away from them because they have the misconception that injectables create a feminine look. This couldn’t be further from the truth!

The key to good plastic surgery of every type is customisation. Whether it is injectables or body contouring, our resident expert, Dr Turner, fully customises all procedures to create perfect harmony. This is especially true when it come to the trendy male lip fillers.

If you think that lip fillers create an unrealistic hyper-inflated look, think again! Today lip injections are all about creating a subtle and natural look. For men, this means no defined Cupid’s Bow and, instead, a focus is placed on creating a subtle enhancement and increased symmetry.

Likewise, when it comes to anti-wrinkle injections like Botox, a good plastic surgeon creates a look that is completely undetectable. In fact, at our Dee Why clinic, we regularly have our patients report to us that their friends and family keep telling them that they look “refreshed” or “well rested.” While the results are clear, our aim is to ensure that no one can quite put their finger on what changed.

Alright, guys? Are you ready to learn more? Talk to us today to organise a no-obligation one-to-one chat with our resident expert, Dr Turner.
