Time to feel renewed with microdermabrasion
As Autumn settles in, it’s time to re-focus on your skin, get it prepared for the winter and looking at it’s best. A Microdermabrasion treatment is an effective non-invasive start to achieving a polished renewed look and feel.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a procedure that renews the skin by lifting dead cells off the surface, gently using diamond head tips or in some cases crystals. There is no topical anaesthetic required and down time is minimal, perhaps an hour or so of a mild flushed face. Our clinician can control the level of abrasion according to the client’s skin condition and needs.
How does it work?
The microdermabrasion epidermal and superficial form of ablation is able to effectively increase the ability for the skin to rejuvenate whilst reducingthe outer layer of dead skin cells and at the same time facilitate the absorption of topical products. For optimal results, this treatment may be suitable for those clients who wish to be on a maintenance program.
Who is suitable?
Microdermabrasion can safely treat all skin types but is not suitable for clients with hyper-sensitive, rosacea skins or acne that is active. After your treatment irritating products with very active ingredients such as retinoids, glycolics and salicylic should not be used for a minimum of 24 to 48 hours. Best to stay away from fraganced products as a rule. The skin may feel slightly more sensitive immediately after a microdermabrasion and that will pass.
What are the results ?
Microdermabrasion increases cell regeneration for a glowing and smooth appearance. It reduces and treats skin imperfections and conditions such as blackheads, whiteheads, congested skin, fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture, oily skins, enlarged pores. Microdermabrasion is also able to reduce superficial scarring and pigmentation with regular cosmeceutical home skin care. Using medical grade skin care regularly will assist in preparing your epidermis and dermis for this treatment therefore achieving much higher results.
What does Microdermabrasion feel like?
There is no pain or discomfort involved, simply a suction and ablative sensation which can be quite relaxing. Your skin will feel warm to touch and slightly flushed which settles usually within an hour of the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
Microdermabrasion can be done anywhere between 2 to 4 weeks apart with a series of 6 to 8 treatments. Clients with deeper lines and superficial scarring will need more than 8 regular treatments. Once you have completed your series of treatments Microdermabrasion can be used as a maintenance treatment monthly or incorporated with a skin peel.

For those that wish to pop in on their lunch break a 30 minute treatment is $99.
