Ultherapy

ULTHERAPY is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that uses focussed ultrasound energy to lift the skin on the neck, under the chin and on the eyebrow.

Ultherapy can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the décolleté. This treatment can help you achieve a more youthful, and rejuvenated look from your eyebrows to your chest regions.

• Promotes Collagen production
• Non-surgical, non-invasive
• Single Treatment
• No downtime
• Ultrasound focussed energy

Ultherapy delivers focussed ultrasound energy to the same foundational layer commonly addressed by plastic surgeons during cosmetic surgery. The surface of the skin during Ultherapy is not cut or disrupted.

This Ultrasound energy initiates the body’s natural response to stimulate the growth of new, fresh collagen and strengthen old or existing weak collagen.

Some patients witness initial effects directly after their treatment, however true results are seen at the 2-3-month stage as new collagen builds. This will cause a gradual tightening and lifting of the skin on the face and neck in addition to smoothing the skin on the chest region.

Ultherapy: Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT DOES ULTRASOUND THERAPY DO?
Ultherapy deposits centred ultrasound energy below the surface of the skin to activate the formation of new collagen. Consequently, the skin will begin to lift and tone with time.

WHAT IS COLLAGEN? HOW DOES ULTHERAPY STIMULATE THE CREATION OF COLLAGEN?
Collagen is the most abundant natural protein in our bodies. It is responsible for providing the skin with its youthfulness, by maintaining firmness, elasticity and tone. As we mature, collagen loses its elasticity and its ability persist to the effects of gravity which pulls the skin downward – causing a sagging appearance. Ultherapy generates a natural repair process yielding new and fresh collagen.

IS ULTHERAPY SURGERY?
No. This is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure which targets the skin and its foundations without the need for disrupting the superficial skin.

CAN ULTHERAPY REPLACE A FACE LIFT?
Ultherapy is not a replacement for the surgical approach of a face lift.  The ultrasound technology used during Ultherapy treatment will aid the formation of new collagen hence it will ‘uplift’ the area of concern.
Many candidates opt to have Ultherapy treatment as they may be aiming to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery, or are not yet ready for a surgical intervention.

HOW IS ULTHERAPY DIFFERENT FROM OTHER LASERS?
Laser devices generally target concerns in the surface (superficial) layers of the skin, such as pigment changes, wrinkles and fine lines).  Ultherapy focuses on the deep skin layer and the underlying skin layer addressed in cosmetic surgery which lifts, and provides support. Both technologies can be used in conjunction and are complementary!

IS ULTHERAPY A SAFE TREATMENT?
The procedure has been approved by the TGA in Australia and the FDA in the US after demonstrating safety in clinical studies, and over 200,000 treatments have been performed safely globally. Additionally, ultrasound energy has a validated history, with use in the field of medicine for over 50 years

AM I A SUITABLE CANDIDATE FOR ULTHERAPY?
An individual with skin that has lost firmness, sagging in presentation; and a general relaxation of the skin would be a suitable candidate for Ultherapy. Identifying markers for maturing or ageing skin, are sagging skin on the eyebrows, the neck or under the chin. Generally, candidates aged thirty or above who have mild to moderate skin laxity are suitable for Ultherapy treatment.

HOW LONG DOES THE ULTHERAPY TREATMENT TAKE?
A treatment ordinarily takes 2 hours with no downtime!

WHAT KIND OF RESULTS WILL I EXPECT TO SEE?
Ultherapy treatment targets mild to moderate skin laxity (sagging skin) on the eyebrows face and neck regions. Distinctively, by rejuvenating and reinvigorating the foundations of the skin, Ultherapy will lift the brow, and give a more refreshed look overall.
Ultherapy is also used to lift and tighten sagging skin to the submental (chin) and neck regions – eliminating the double chin or “turkey neck”.

HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE RESULTS?
Patients may witness some initial effect but the ultimate toning and lifting occur over a  2-3 months period. During this time old collagen is replaced with new, more elastic collagen – giving you are rejuvenated appearance.  As this collagen-building process continues, further improvements can appear up to 6 months following a procedure.

WILL I NEED MORE THAN ONE TREATMENT?
Typically, most patients only need one treatment; however, some candidates may benefit from more than one treatment (depending on how much skin laxity is present and their body’s ability biologically to respond to the ultrasound and collagen-building process). Your physician will be able to propose the correct treatment plan for your needs.

WILL I FEEL THE ULTRASOUND DURING THE TREATMENT?
Yes. During your Ultherapy treatment, you minuscule amounts of ultrasound energy are deposited below the surface of the skin.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO ULTHERAPY?
Erythema or redness to the skin is to be expected after your treatment. This can last for up to an hour or so following your Ulthera treatment.
Some candidates may experience minor bruising, tenderness, tingling, and slight inflammation – which is temporary and will gradually subside.
